A SHORT INTRODUCTION

I write about the

in-between hours.

I live in Milan with a very old dog and a wall of books I keep meaning to read. My novels are usually about time — the way it folds, the way we lose it, the way a single afternoon can hold a decade.
Before the books there were seventeen years of newspapers, a failed opera, and a great deal of walking. If any of this interests you, we will get along.
THE SLOW HOURS · A PODCAST

Long conversations,

no small talk.

Every other Sunday, a single guest and a single question. Poets, translators, gardeners, a nun. New episode dropped this week with the novelist Jhumpa Lahiri.
KIND WORDS

Marchetti writes with the patience of a stonemason and the ear of a poet. You leave her pages softer than you arrived.

— THE ATLANTIC
A rare, generous voice — the kind you underline in pencil and press flat against your chest.
— VOGUE
Every sentence earns its silence. This is prose that respects the reader.
